Paanai Veedu

An urban residence in Chennai, set on a tight plot and asked to make the climate work for it rather than against it.

The street-facing facades are walls of earthen brick - sized and layered to slow the heat that Chennai's summers send through the section. Deep window reveals, a brise-soleil at the upper floor, and a small inner courtyard carry the same climate logic through the plan.

The brick is left exposed inside and out. The interior reads as one continuous material from the street wall to the back of the house.
