Traditional Jewellery

A small jewellery showroom in Mayiladuthurai, drawing directly from the language of Tamil temple architecture.

The interior is composed in panels: a stone base, a carved teak frame at eye level, and a ceiling worked in low relief. Display niches sit where lamp niches would in a kovil. The lighting is warm and indirect, throwing the jewellery against the texture of the wall behind it.

The showroom reads, on entry, as a small temple-room set within the market street. Completed in 2024.
